I think I'm ready to talk about it.

With heavy heart I post my sad story of one bored father and his two innocent victims, my sons. One week ago today, I went to my usual Relief Society presidency meeting and left Jace in charge of supervising and bathing all of his children. I know he is crippled right now but I thought for sure he could handle it, seeing as how Macy usually ends up doing all the supervising of her brothers and father. What I came home to, my brain just could not comprehend or compute. Jace's hair - gone. Noah's beautiful hair - a lot shorter than when I left. Ezra's hair - completely gone. My heart and stomach were sick. My tears and tantrum followed soon after.
Jace has done this before to Noah when he was 18 months old. I cried for 3 days. Noah was born with a taupe of beautiful, thick, black hair. It was devastating then and devastating now. But not near as devastating as looking at my Ezra's bald head. I know Noah's will grow back - Fast. Ezra on the other hand has always had hair but it has been fine, straight, thin hair. It was never much to look at, I thought, until I saw him without it. Boy, I have been missing it. I have decided that there is a reason Heavenly Father has blessed all my children with a head of hair at birth and beyond.....none of them have been blessed with small round heads.

For the 1st couple days after I was threatening to shave my head too, so Ezra and I could hide at home until it grew back. I also had a hard time looking at my poor boy. I would find myself talking to his chest. Crazy? Yea. Time to fill that prescription of Zoloft that's been sitting in my junk drawer? Maybe. But maybe I have some sort of insecurity about hair. My hair and the hair of my offspring. As 1 of 6 girls, I was "blessed," "cursed," whatever with curly, kinky, frizzy, flat, whatever hair. I watched my sisters get their straight, nice hair cut and wondered why I never got a hair cut. FYI: My 1st hair cut was at age 8 and only because my Mother accidentally vacuumed up my hair while I was attempting a head stand. My hair just didn't grow. I would see other girls on the school bus at the end of the day with pony tails still nicely in place and wonder what in the world was wrong with mine. Most of my hair would be no longer nicely in place. I'm still coming to terms with my hair at the age of 26. I try carefully to watch what I say about my hair in front of my Macy. She has inherited my hair or my "curse." Her hair is adorable and I hope that she comes to terms with it sooner in life than what I did. But as I mentioned on my blog before, she already wishes for, talks about, and notices everyone else's "princess" hair. Oh, my heart goes out to the girl.

As for my Ezra, his new du is growing on me. I'm able to look at his head now when we meet and speak. As for my Jace, I'm speaking to him now too. The hair clippers were removed from the house and disposed of. Jace no longer has rights to cut, shave, comb, trim, ect. any hair in the Baum household. He never did have those rights. You have to give birth to earn those rights. The Moral?.....Life will go on. Ezra's hair will grow back. I will have a good hair day this week. Jace will probably make another irrational decision this week (his words, not mine) and I will forgive him, love him, and move on......again.....but not until I remind him of how Ezra's 1st hair cut broke my heart.

WOW! And to think, I cant even get Josh to clip Shelbys nails. What a funny guy Jace is. I love the stories you tell; aspecially the one about the plug and the "pond".

You tell the best stories. I am so glad you are blogging, so I can be entertained by reading it:) You should write a book.

Sorry about the hair. Ezra is way handsome even bald though:) And who'd have known you hated your hair as a child. It is GEORGOUS. And Macy's too! The hair is always nicer on someone elses head huh??

Keep on bloggin...

OH Lindz- Your hair is beautiful. I hope you know that now. Having the straight lifeless hair I wish for full curly locks like yours and sweet macy's. The Grass is always greener right? I love your post. You are so flippin talented with your writing and story telling. And I know I told you but I am a fan of the shaved head and think Ezra looks so handsome:)

Your boys are handsome regardless. I am glad that you are able to speak about it now. All those pictures were so cute! You were truly blessed with some beautiful hair. Ladies are still flocking to get perms and they lie and say its natural. As Addie says the grass is always greener somewhere else. You are so HOTT! Otherwise Jace wouldn't have married you right! We are all jealous of your hair and I hope you can get some peace about it. We love our Baums and I think your children are B-E-A-Utiful!

Oh my goodness I am crying for you and laughing! First lets all kill Jace..what is up with those Baum boys?? haha Tell Jace there such a thing as clipper guards! He doesn't have to shave them bald to give them a hair cut! But your boys are cute no matter what the hair looks like!

I understand your hair trama as a child I too had fuzzy, curly, frizzy, awful hair! My mom would always do funky cuts on us girls..I mean Carol Brady cuts and Refuge haircuts awful..we still torture my mom over those hair do's! I can remeber all my friends having cute pigtails and all the pretty ribbon...not us! DeAnne got the good hair and big boobs..where is the justice? haha Anyways I feel for ya!

Oh Jace what are you going to do with him?? HAHAHA I am SO sorry. That is TOTALLY something that Ross would do. They must be pretty good friends. HEHE

I absolutley LOVE your hair. I will traid you ok. Hair does grow back I am having to learn that myself, but it is taking TOO LONG!!!

I would say lets go and get a pedicure but we don't want to leave the kids with JAce and Ross so.... I guess we need to do something else. Hang in there.

Oh, my goodness! The night you were telling me about this, I just couldn't stop thinking about it when you left. He does look cute no matter what. I remember when he did this to Noah too. Some day....Jace will learn! If he does let me know and maybe Treg will have learned by then too!hehe

In my defense I had horrible hair too, Leanna! I had the short hair that was horrible with the natural curl in it. It was a full as could be. Your sisters are right, the grass is always greener on the other side. I look at it now and don't mind it to much being able to do straight and curly. You are a BEAUTIFUL girl and I think your hair is too! Thanks for sharing your story. I too think you are a great writer.

I'm cracking up at Jace! What a brave soul. You handle all of his irrationalisms (not a word I know), very well. I hope this cast lasts longer than the last!

Lindsay, I'm so sorry for your loss, but that story was hilarious. Your mom vacuuming your hair, Jace losing his rights to touch anyone's hair, I was laughing the whole time I read it. I remember the first time Jace cut Noah's hair (I think we went to the swap meet shortly after?) and how upset you were. That kid does have some AWESOME hair. Have I already told you that Holden has a pet rock he named Noah? He was super impressed by Noah at his birthday party, so he decided to pay tribute. Well, thanks for your nice comment on my blog! I noticed a link to your blog on Sarah's a week or so ago and have been meaning to post a comment--I'm glad you've decided to blog! I think your blog is great, and love that you're not afraid to be honest! Also, you're a great writer/storyteller yourself! Well, congrats on selling your house and call us if you need help moving. I still owe you dinner! And tell Macy I think curly hair is much more princess-esque than straight hair.

Hello! This is Taralee (Rustin's little sister). I just wanted you to know that I occasionally look at your blog. I love you stories. The one about Jace making you jump in the freezing water was quite funny. I can actually see Trace doing the same thing to me...and then me, TOTALLY getting all pissed off. ha ha.
Anyway, I've always thought your curly hair was so pretty and your macy's curls are to die for. SO CUTE!!
I think the shaved heads are cute too. Makes him look like a tough guy!
Hope you don't mind me looking at your blog every now and again.

Ok...so I got to your blog from my sister Kristi"s (monson). I'm not sure if you even remember who I am, but Mauriah and I were buddies in grade school. Kristi told me you found hers from someone else...isn't blog surfing fun? Anyway, I can't believe how much you've grown (I sound like some grandma)! I remember you and kristi playing together as little gals. Tell your family hi for me! We still talk about your fun family when we think of life in Show Low! It's a great place! Miss you guys! I love that you write like you talk. I just started my own blog, I figured to let people spy into my life as well me into theirs.

Lindsay, seriously...talking to his chest? come on now! It couldn't have been that bad? One time, though, when I was a missionary for the Mormon church, my comp said that he knew how to cut hair...and took a 1 clip clear up to two inches past my ear. WHAT? Every since the mushroom haircut and all the little kids telling me I look like a monkey, I cut my own. It's just easier that way. And that's probably what Jace should do, just let you do that stuff. Hair is kind of a sensitive thing. Yours, btw, always looked amazing.
